Now pegged as one of my all time favorite movies, The Help auditioned some big name actresses that didn’t get the role.  See the interview with the one who did.

Octavia Spencer played an excellent role of Minny, the one who made the pie, but there were a lot of big name people who were being considered.

The 41 year old actress told Anderson Cooper in an interview that she beat out Mo’Nique, Jennifer Hudson, and Queen Latifah for the role of Minny.

Deadline London caught up with Terrence Howard while covering the Cannes Film Festival and learned that he is in talks to play Marvin Gaye in Cameron Crowe’s long-gestating biopic. Rapper Ja Rule has signed to star in the upcoming film “I’m in Love with a Church Girl.”  The movie is based on the life of Reverence Gospel Media founder Galley Molina.  Ja Rule will play Miles Montego, a wealthy former drug dealer, gone straight after falling in love with church girl, Vanessa.  Molina says, the film is simply about the Power of God in a man’s life and is based on real life experiences of Molina.

20th Century Fox said yesterday that the movie, “Avatar,” has passed the “Titanic” to become the highest-grossing film worldwide.

As of Monday, “Avatar” had brought in $1.859 billion at the box office, passing the $1.843 billion worldwide record set by 1997′s “Titanic.”
“Titanic” remains the highest-grossing film domestically at $600.8 million.
“Avatar” has been No. 1 at the box office for six straight weeks with a domestic total of $554.9 million. It shot down “The Dark Knight” on Saturday to become the second highest-grossing film domestically.
“Avatar” has also mined $1.3 billion in international ticket sales, smashing the $1.24 billion mark previously set by “Titanic.”

Unlike Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which was hype up to no end but we all knew what we were getting ready to see. Then again, there was all of the hype around X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Terminator Salvation and Paranormal Activity, which no where near lived up to the hype. Actually, they all fell short of expectations. So what about Precious?
