Oak City Classic Youth Pep Rally

The Oak City Classic will host a youth pep rally on October 30th at 3pm at the Chavis Community Center, located at 505 Martin Luther King Blvd in Raleigh. The Oak City Classic is a week of events that endorse recreation activities, educational achievement, and promote cultural excellence. These events will lead up to the football game between the Bears of Shaw University and the Falcons of St. Augustine’s College. If you are between 6-18 years old, come out and enjoy a day of fun and excitement. Please wear your school or your favorite college shirt.
At the rally, we will be producing a video to be submitted to Good Morning America for their “My Three Words” campaign. My three words is a video expression that could air on ABC-TV News Good Morning America! The three word expression for the Oak City Classic Rally is “Next Stop College”. We will video participants holding a sign up and send it to GMA. Good Morning America selects videos to air each week. In order for a child to be in this video, they will need to have a signed permission form by a parent or guardian with
them on the day of the event.

Oak City Classic Football Skills/Cheerleading Clinic

The Oak City Classic Football/Cheerleading Clinic is a skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 -15 to compete against their peers. Girls and boys compete in age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) in punting, passing and catching in a fun and engaging forum. The Cheerleader Clinic will provide the opportunity to learn the basic cheer- leading moves. The event is free. Participants must be 8-15 years old as of 10/31/11. Oak City Classic Community Health Screening Top Greene Community Center

The Oak City Classic Community Health Screening is an event open to adults. Rex Hospital staff will perform Blood Pressure testing, Heart Risk Assessments [which will allow a free
screening appointment to the Early Detection Center for further evaluation for a complete lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Ratio, and Blood Glucose)], Blood Pressure, BMI, Height, Weight and Waist Circumference. The Rex staff will also have an ultrasound machine to do carotid artery screenings. In addition, they will also provide infor- mation about the Rex Cancer and Heart Burn Prevention Center.
