Owens a 20 year television veteran started his career in 1993, as a reporter trainee at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. and began working at WRAL TV-5 in 2002. Today Owens recapped the following stories:

•The body of the missing Appalachian State University student, Anna Smith was found over the weekend. Police have not confirmed the reason of death but report that an autopsy will be performed soon.
•Man died in house fire early Sunday morning in Sanford after a pot was left on the stove. Jack Rollins, 59 years old, died at the scene after his roommate was unable to rescue him.
•29th annual farm aid concert was held Saturday at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater starring: Willie Nelson, Neal Young and John Mellencamp.
•In sports….. The Carolina Panthers had Cam Newton back at quarterback and the Panthers beat the Lions 24-7.
