Israel Houghton Wins His Forth Grammy Award

    Integrity Music’s Israel Houghton is now a four-time GRAMMY Award winner after receiving the award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album for his critically acclaimed CD Love God. Love People. The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

    The GRAMMY for Love God. Love People. makes four straight for the worship leader from Houston.  Each of Houghton’s last four CDs have been honored with GRAMMY Awards.  Last year he won for his solo debut CD The Power of One, and with his powerhouse musical ensemble New Breed, Houghton won a GRAMMY in 2008 for A Deeper Level and in 2007 for Alive in South Africa.

    Winners for the 53rd Grammy Awards have been announced.  The categories include: Best Gospel Performance, Best Gospel Song, Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album, Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel, Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album, Best Traditional Gospel Album, and Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.

    The brother and sister duo BeBe & CeCe Winans received two nominations for Best Gospel Performance for their song “Grace” and Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album for Still and won in both categories.

    Other winners in the Gospel category included Switchfoot, Jerry Peters and Kirk Whalum, Diamond Rio, and Patty Griffin.
