She currently serves as the Director of Worship and Arts at Grace Church Of Durham under the leadership of Pastor Kedrick Lowery and Dr. Siti Lowery. Tarkisha spent her formative years surrounded by the strong influences of her family, their faith, and their music. She was raised in Smithfield, North Carolina where she began singing in the youth choir at Shiloh Christian Church, pastored by her grand-father the late Bishop Franklin J. Matthews. Years of listening to the “Shilohettes” which consisted of her mother, aunt and uncle, gave Tarkisha a sense of how music affected people. She did not fully understand all that God was preparing her for but she knew that there was power within her voice. She began writing, composing and ministering in song whenever asked. She is featured on a CD project entitled “For Just One Hour” a prayer CD exclusive at Grace Church of Durham. Tarkisha is set on fulfilling the purpose that God has placed on the inside of her. She has a passion for praise and worship and enjoys seeing people experience the undeniable presence of God. She has a love for music and heart for God’s people. Her life purpose scripture is Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
